Samantha Preis, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
Samantha Preis has practiced on the Windward side of Oahu since 2000 after earning her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Tai Hsuan College and her Diplomate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the NCCAOM. She began her practice in Kailua at the Kailua Acupuncture Clinic, a multidisciplinary setting with chiropractic, acupuncture and massage where she interned with Joni Kroll, DAc. In 2004 she transitioned to the Castle Professional Center in Kaneohe to practice closer to home. Then in 2016 she found her optimal clinic setting in the Kaneohe Atrium.
In 2010 she joined forces with the Department of Defense and was contracted as an acupuncturist to Tripler Army Medical Center in their Interdisciplinary Pain Management Clinic. She worked side-by-side with anesthesiologists, psychologists, various other MDs, chiropractors and medical massage therapists to rehabilitate soldiers and veterans. She gave a well received Grand Rounds presentation to the doctors at Tripler familiarizing them with TCM concepts in pain management and served as a representative of her profession to Surgeon General Schoomaker during his visit to the IPMC.
Her main training and expertise is in fertility and pain management. Women’s health has always been a special interest of hers and has led her to work in fertility, postnatal and menstruation-related conditions such as migraines, fibroids, prolapsed bladder and rectum, painful and abnormal menstruation, etc.
Samantha has recognized a need for more effective and natural pain management for the general population. She has broadened her skills in pain management to encompass alternate acupuncture styles such as Dr. Tan, Master Tung, Auricular and Kiiko Matsumoto style acupuncture. She also is skilled in a variety of treatment adjuncts such as moxa, cupping, electric stimulation and gua sha.
Herbal medicine is a powerful part of Chinese medicine. Samantha has chosen to stock a powdered extract pharmacy to bring this ancient healing art to the convenience of the modern age. She has earned Herbal Certification from the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) that, combined with her Acupuncture Certification allow her the title of Diplomate of Oriental Medicine. Samantha believes that herbs are powerful medicine and should be taken under the supervision of a certified herbalist. She has studied under the guidance of many master herbalists and continues to refine her knowledge.
